Here is a step by step approach to organizing photo shoots for kids products.
1. Choose a theme for the photo shoot, something to match your products.
The best way to show how much fun a toy is, is to create some sort of imaginary world that the toys reside in. For these examples with the toy cars simple paper props were created to create settings where the cars would go on adventures. The props are cute and colorful without taking attention away from the cars. This kind of lifestyle photos are really good for online listings and also for social media. Kids love them.
2. Select the photography lighting to make the product stand out.
Kids products are usually very colorful, so make sure to match them with lighting and post-production that enhance the colorfulness and make the products more appealing to the eye..
3. Add a Child Model.
Adding a real model to your product photos is always useful in helping create the human connection through the images. If your budget does not allow for a real model, you can use stock photos and then take product photos with the correct angle and lighting to retouch into the stock photos. Props are a very important part of every photo shoots that sometimes goes neglected, especially by new brands that focus on decreasing the cost of launching a new product rather than maximizing the ROI. A good looking product photo that shows your products are useful and also styling will be more appealing to buyers than a basic product on white photo. Look at these storage boxes for example, they are pretty cute on their own, but when you place them in a very organized room with cute toys, and especially when you load them with perfectly folded cute clothes, the usefulness of the boxes becomes very obvious.
